‘A Night Before Christmas’ Showcases Festive Yuletide Talent
Talented Newton Abbot College students from all year groups gathered in the Daphne Collman Auditorium on Wednesday 7 December to thrill a capacity audience with their festive, musical extravaganza, ‘A Night Before Christmas’.
Audience members were wowed with a variety of performances, including a rock orchestra, duets, band and vocal group performances and solo offerings. Highlights included Year 10 Gracie Jacobs, who delivered a flawless and emotional rendition of ‘The Power of Love’ and Sixth Form Band, ‘Then There Were Six’, who performed an original Christmas song, ‘Our Christmas Day’, to huge applause.
The concert was the culmination of another hugely successful term for the College’s Creative Arts team, one that Team Leader of Music and Performing Arts, Rob Wilkinson, will not forget: “Our students continue to produce performances of a phenomenally high standard. We are so proud, both as a department and as a College, that we have the opportunity to showcase the talents of these incredible young people in such a public way and celebrate their hard work, determination and professional integrity as performers.”
The performance was met with a hugely positive response, with one audience member commenting: “I cannot believe that these young people are producing work of such a high calibre. It was incredibly emotional to see such camaraderie, teamwork and joy whilst performing. I can only begin to imagine what these amazing young people will do next!”
