The College’s Sixth Form Hair and Beauty students are celebrating following the success of their annual fundraising day at the end of May.
Staff and members of the public were treated to a range of treatments, facials, waxing, cutting, blow drying and styling throughout the day on 22 May; a prize raffle and cake sale was also organised to boost funds. The day was a great success, raising an incredible £315.50 that was donated to Rowcroft Hospice in memory of a member of staff who sadly passed away earlier in the year.
Event organiser and Beauty Trainer/Assessor, Anita Brown, was extremely pleased with the day; “Newton Abbot College’s Hair and Beauty Charity Day is a real highlight in the calendar; this year had a special resonance for us all and we were so proud to have been able to raise such a lot of money for Rowcroft Hospice. Our students worked extremely hard throughout the day in a professional manner, delivering quality treatments to all their clients and I couldn’t have been happier with the result.”
Rowcroft representative, Lauren Peters, said of the donation: “It was absolutely amazing that Newton Abbot College supported Rowcroft. The donated money will be put towards helping patients and families make each day the best day possible. Rowcroft couldn’t provide the service we do without the support of events like this.”
