Students in Years 8 and 9 were celebrating a bronze medal win at the Devon Summer School Games held at Brickfields Athletics and Recreation Ground on Thursday 22 June.
Pitching their wits against seven other qualifying teams, sixteen students took to the field and athletics track competing in a range of events including high jump, long jump, sprint races and relays.

Notable individual performances were celebrated, including Emily Lands first place in the 300m sprint, registering the fastest time in the event across the entire competition. Joe Harding also recorded an impressive 12.2 second time, securing an individual win in the 100m sprint. ‘Spirit of the Games’ awards were also presented to Tom Lobb and Maisy Bruce.
Competing students were also joined by some of the College’s Sports Leaders who helped deliver a Tri-Golf championship to local primary school pupils also attending the day.

College Physical Education Support Assistant, Chantal Greep, was thrilled with the result: “We couldn’t have been happier for all our students, both as a department and as a College as a whole. Our competing students showed a real grit and determination in every discipline with some truly outstanding individual and team performances. Our accompanying Student Leaders once again showed their professionalism and dedication to delivering high level sporting activities to members of local primary schools. They are all, without doubt, fantastic ambassadors for the College and we are thrilled with their performances.”
