The College is once again celebrating the success of its annual careers fair, held on 22 February.
The College welcomed over thirty organisations and companies who represented local and national employers, including the Armed Forces, Emergency Services, accountancy, legal, and industry specialists as well as Universities and apprenticeship providers.
The fair was designed to give students of all year groups the chance to investigate career paths beyond the classroom, meet with industry professionals and explore the myriad choices available for their futures beyond College life. Other schools and Colleges in the local area also attended to take advantage of the great opportunities provided.
The fair was a huge hit with both students and exhibitors with Caroline Anderson, representative from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue, being quick to praise the College’s student body: “The students have been fantastic, engaged and willing to try out the various pieces of apparatus we have provided. Our aim today was to show students the range and diversity of the role of a modern day fire fighter. Careers fairs like the one here at Newton Abbot College are extremely important to help young people who may not have a clear idea of their future career path.”
The College Business Manager, Nick Hill, stated “We are grateful to all the exhibitors who attended, making the event bigger and better than last year; it was fantastic to see so many students so engaged with representatives from such a wide variety of industry professions. We hope to build on this event year on year to help increase the opportunities and life chances of our students.”
