Newton Abbot College is celebrating following its recent recognition as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ for ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network).
The award was presented to the College in recognition of its Certificate of Personal Effectiveness courses (Levels 2 and 3) that are run at both GCSE and post-16 level. The courses, which have had an incredible pass rate of 100% at both levels for many years, see students completing a series of skill assessments that demonstrate employability skills. Areas covered include Improving Own Learning, Oral Presentation, Working with Others, Discussion, Research and Problem Solving and the course is increasingly popular year on year.
Teacher of Business Studies, Laura Davey, is thrilled with the accolade: “We could not be more proud, both as a Department and as a College as a whole, to have received this award. Put simply, it is suitable recognition for all the hard work our students put into their studies. In recent years, the quality of students’ coursework has improved significantly, garnering high praise from moderators that is, in turn, reflected in our amazing 100% pass rate. To be officially recognised as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ is an outstanding endorsement of both the quality of teaching and of our students’ work. We encourage our students to ‘Imagine What’s Possible…’ at all times and this award is a powerful demonstration that students can achieve incredible things if they set their minds to it.”
