The NHS have re-introduced the need for a confirmatory PCR testing following a positive Lateral Flow Device (LFD) test, whether that be a test conducted at the College or by using of the self-test kits we give to students to use at home.
If you receive a positive LFD Test then the PCR test should be booked immediately either online or by calling 119 and should be undertaken within two days. Positive LFD and PCR tests should be reported to the College by email to firstname.lastname@example.org telling us your child’s full name, year group and the date and time the test was completed. All other test results should be provided on the Newton Abbot College Covid Test Results Form.
Anyone who has a positive LFD test result, their close contacts and other members of their household, should self-isolate immediately in line with NHS Test and Trace guidance and while awaiting the PCR result. If the PCR test is negative, it overrides the LFD test and the student can return to College, and their close contacts can end their self-isolation.
LFD test kits can also be ordered for free and sent to your home.
You can order kits to test your household, childcare bubble or support bubble if at least one member:
- is a school, nursery or college pupil
- works in a school, nursery or college (this includes temporary workers or volunteers)
- works in an occupation related to a school, nursery or college
Kits can be ordered here.
