Newton Abbot College dance students came together to produce an incredible showcase of their talents entitled ‘The Works’ on 17 March.
Performed in the College’s Creative Arts Centre to a sold out audience, students from years 7 to 12 delivered a variety of dance styles from contemporary to modern, lyrical to dance film. The presented work was the culmination of the students’ own choreography and work produced in the College’s thriving dance clubs.
The group work, including innovative use of light, sound and film, was punctuated with solo performances from hugely talented dancers including Year 7 Erin Van Kuyk, Year 9 Eleanor Skinner and Year 11 GCSE student, Imogen Thomas.
The performance received rave reviews, with one audience member commenting “Rarely have I seen such emotive work. The talent of these students is breath taking; I was moved to tears at several points during the performance!”
Teacher of Performing Arts and Dance, Sarah Dyke, was thrilled with the students’ performances: “The standard of the work showcased was exceptional, and the students should be immensely proud to have performed in such a professional manor. As their teacher, I cannot praise the students enough and I look forward to next year’s performance.”
