Discovering languages

Last month a group of Year 10 students from Newton Abbot College attended a ‘Discover Languages Day’ at the University of Exeter.  As part of the programme for the day, the students were taken on a tour of the campus and were given a presentation about studying languages at University, with a particular focus on spending a year abroad.  There were also a series of workshops throughout the day in French, Spanish and German, which aimed to develop speaking skills and build vocabulary and cultural awareness. languagesday-web Our students participated really well in these workshops and the ‘text speak’ workshop in French was particularly popular! The students were impressed with the campus and the facilities on offer and even managed to have lunch in the sunshine outside the spectacular Forum building.  Amber Mold said “We learnt a lot about what opportunities University has to offer and the Student Ambassadors were really welcoming.”
