Faiths stranger saga immortalised in print

Faith Sinnott, a Year 8 budding young creative writer from Newton Abbot College, has had her first short story published in the anthology, ‘Stranger Sagas – South West England’.

The anthology, the result of a writing competition organised by Young Writers, saw entrants submitting stories of under 100 words using one of eight ‘story starter’ sentences provided to inspire creativity. Encouraged to enter through her College English studies, the resulting story ‘The Demon in the Child’ is a grisly tale of suspense, depicting a horrific discovery after following a trail of blood in an empty airport terminal.

“I’m really proud to have been published.’ Explains Faith, “I love to write and make up my own stories and worlds. It was fantastic to have been encouraged by my teachers to look at and enjoy writing out of the classroom. I really want to enter more competitions like this in the future.”

Lucie Clark, Teacher of English, said of Faith’s achievement: “Faith absolutely deserves this. She works incredibly hard and clearly has a great love of creative writing which she has put to fantastic use; the resulting story is a triumph!’
