Fantastic Fundraising

Newton Abbot College was proud to present a cheque for £10,039.45 to Rowcroft Hospice, their Charity of the Year for 2012-13. This fantastic amount was a result of a wide variety of fundraising events organised by students and staff over the previous academic year: from leg waxing (for the men!) to donation stations, skydiving to world cup sweepstakes, marathons to bag packs, the list was endless.  These fundraising events culminated in 11 students and 2 members of staff taking part in the 3 Peaks Challenge, where they climbed the 3 highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales within 27 hours and in the process raised much needed funds for Rowcroft Hospice. Debbi Shotton, Community Fundraising Officer for Rowcroft Hospice, attended a special House assembly at the College where members of the 3 Peaks team officially presented her with the cheque, and revealed the grand total for the first time!
