The College’s newly formed Sixth Form first eleven football team has won its inaugural match against players from South Devon College.
The team was formed following regular training as part of the Sixth Form’s enrichment programme held on Wednesday afternoons. The team comprises students who have formerly played in younger years and three new international students who have a keen interest in the sport.
The team travelled to pitches in Stoke Gabriel to face their opponents from South Devon College; despite it only being their first official match, the College team managed to secure a convincing victory of 8-0. Ben Parsons started his season off with an impressive hattrick and newcomer, Simone La Palombara was named ‘Player of the Match’.
Team Coach, Mark Titchard, said of the win: “I was incredibly impressed with the work ethic of everyone involved in this newly formed team. The end score was a testament to all their hard work and dedication to their training. They were a credit to the College; it is a big step in the right direction for post-16 football and we are excited to see what the rest of the season holds for these talented players.”
