Newton Abbot College has been awarded the full Quality in Careers Standard Award through its CEIAG (Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance) work in partnership with CSW Group.
The externally assessed award was the culmination of months of evidence-gathering to meet the awarding body’s stringent criteria. The College successfully demonstrated their ability to educate young people to make competent decisions about their future learning and work choices as well as developing their career learning skills and increase their understanding of work-based issues such as prejudice, stereotyping, discrimination and equal opportunities.
The College’s calendar is punctuated with a range of careers opportunities; from large-scale annual Careers Fairs to drop-in sessions in the newly appointed careers hub, from mock interviews and organised work experience to careers-focused PSHE days for all College year groups.
Registered Careers Advisor with CSW Group, Gemma Nalder, said: “It has been great working in partnership with Newton Abbot College to achieve this award; we are committed to giving students the knowledge and experience to make informed choices about their futures.”
College CEIAG and Work Experience Coordinator, Mandi Grant, said: “This award is testament to the College’s goal of raising aspirations, increasing opportunities and maximising outcomes, with the end goal of improving the life chances of our students beyond our College community.”
