The College has been successful in its funding application to build a new state-of-the-art Dance Studio and additional Mathematics classroom.
Following successful planning permission in 2016, the College was awarded in excess of £500k from the government’s Condition Improvement Fund, with works scheduled to begin in the summer of 2018.
The life-expired, temporary structures that has been serving as a dance studio and mathematics classroom will be demolished. The new Dance facility will be relocated, becoming integrated with the existing Creative Arts Department. The new Mathematics classroom will also be constructed alongside the existing department rooms, to enhance the available teaching and learning spaces College-wide.
The new architect-designed dance studio will include sprung floors, high ceilings and large floor space and will be constructed by a local contractor. The finished facility will be used for Performing Arts curriculum as well as being available to the local community after its completion in early 2019.
College Business Manager, Nick Hill, said of the funding grant; “We are extremely pleased to be able to announce this fantastic news. These new teaching and learning spaces will provide our students with the opportunity to maximise their potential and examination outcomes in these key areas of the curriculum. We are thrilled that the new dance studio will provide a great new facility available to the local community and we are looking forward to its completion and opening early next year.”
