The College’s Sixth Form Hair and Beauty students are celebrating following the huge success of their annual fundraising day.
Staff, students and members of the public were treated to a range of treatments, facials, waxing, cutting, blow drying and styling throughout the day, raising an incredible £340 for the College’s chosen charity, Dartmoor Search and Rescue (Ashburton). Sixth form students also arranged a ‘Newton Abbot College Bake Off’ competition and raffle to help boost donations.
The day was an incredible success and one that Year 12 vocational student, Shannon Deane, thoroughly enjoyed: “This was my first year getting involved in the charity day; we have had lots of clients in to work on, which not only gives students the chance to practice, but also raised lots of money for a fantastic cause!”
The much anticipated annual event is overseen by Trainer/Assessors Anita Brown and Jade Lee, who were thrilled with the event: “The day was fantastic; the College had a real buzz about it and everyone came together and worked as a team to make the day extremely successful. The Level 3 students led the Level 1 students in an incredibly professional manner and they all learned a huge amount. A large sum of money was raised for a fantastic charity and we couldn’t be prouder of the students involved, members of staff and public who supported the event and College as a whole.”
