The College has installed an upgraded, state-of-the-art fire safety system following months of upgrading works.
Following a successful application to the ESFA (Education and Skills Funding Agency), a £100k grant was secured by the College from the government’s Condition Improvement Fund to cover all of the costs of installation and implementation.
Work commenced in the summer of 2017 to completely replace the system; local Abbotskerswell business, JN Building Services, worked closely with College Business Manager, Nick Hill, to ensure there was no disruption to teaching and learning or staff for the duration of the works.
The new system is fully networked across the split-site College, allowing early problem detection and containment if necessary.
College Business Manager, Nick Hill, said of the improvements: “We were extremely pleased to have been successful in our funding bid. The new fire alarm system will further ensure the health and safety of our students and members of staff, which is of paramount importance and a top priority. We are proud to have been able to continue to provide our students with a safe environment in which to successfully achieve their potential.”
