Hays’ Donation Fires Up Modern Languages Students

Newton Abbot’s local branch of Hays Travel visited Newton Abbot College on Friday 29 September to present learning resources and awards for its Modern Languages students.

As part of the ongoing community partnership enjoyed for over a year, Hays representatives Jenny Bovey and Nicki Hayday presented Team Leader of Modern Foreign Languages, Hannah Brown, with three Kindle Fire tablets as well as a Languages’ Award cup and prize.

The Kindle tablets will be used as interactive language learning resources, giving students the opportunity to undertake tailored, individual learning, such as listening tasks and vocabulary studies. The Languages cup and prize will be awarded to an individual student in Year 7 or 8 who has shown an outstanding level of attainment and effort in either French or Spanish. The inaugural presentation will be made at the College’s first Awards Evening, taking place on Tuesday 10 October.

Hays Travel representative, Jenny Bovey, said of the presentation: “It is fantastic that Hays Travel can support the local community. It is very rewarding to know that we are supporting such a worthwhile, yet difficult to master, area of the curriculum.”

Team Leader of Modern Languages, Hannah Brown, said: “We are thrilled to be in partnership with Hays Travel Newton Abbot. Their generosity will help more of our students maximise their potential in the field of languages, as well as celebrate those who have shown aptitude and application in French or Spanish.”
