‘In Motion’ gains Momentum for Final Ever Performance

Year 13 A Level Music group, ‘In Motion’ took to the stage earlier in the month to perform their final gig as students at Newton Abbot College.

As part of their performance examination module, the band were required to deliver a set including both covers and original music, showcasing a range of musical genres. Performing in the College’s Daphne Collman Auditorium to an audience of family and friends, the veteran musicians performed four original songs and covered classic hits including Bobby Day’s 1957 hit, ‘Rockin’ Robin’ and Hozier’s anthemic track ‘Nina Cried Power’.

The gig marks the end of two incredibly successful years of study by the talented trio, comprising Ellie Jackson, Katie Williams and Oliver Partridge, with all three of them taking their music on to further education or continued performance in an informal way.

Teacher of Music, Christian Tebbutt, will be sad to see them go: “Working with ‘In Motion’ has been fabulous. Not only are these three brilliant musicians, they are also totally professional and really fun to be around. Their innovative approach to interpreting music covers to suit their strengths, talented song writing and dedication to delivering the best performance possible, has made them an absolute pleasure to work with. We will be sorry, both as a Department and as a College as a whole, to say goodbye to these truly talented individuals and we wish them all the very best for their future with music.”
