Junior Maths Challenge

Students at Newton Abbot College have achieved 2 silver and 10 bronze certificates in this year’s UKMT Junior Maths Challenge.  Tobias Rudling, Year 8, and Tyler Bidgood, Year 7, were awarded silver certificates and named as ‘Best in Year’. [caption id="attachment_6542" align="aligncenter" width="400"]L-R: Lucas Richards, Tobias Rudling, Oscar Tettmar, Jordan Endacott, Chris Harvey and Luke Selley L-R: Lucas Richards, Tobias Rudling, Oscar Tettmar, Jordan Endacott, Chris Harvey and Luke Selley[/caption] The Junior Maths Challenge is run by the UK Mathematics Trust and is aimed at students in Years 7 and 8 who sit the Challenge in schools under normal exam conditions.  Over 240,000 students from across the UK sat the Junior Maths Challenge with the top 40% of students receiving gold, silver or bronze certificates. Charlie Bradley, Teacher of Mathematics, said “We are delighted to see so many of our students receiving certificates this year.  The papers are mathematically challenging and require students to use their knowledge of mathematics to solve unfamiliar problems.”
