Newton Abbot College welcomed record-breaking ‘Memory Man’, David Thomas, to teach students how to improve their memories and revision techniques for their upcoming examinations.
Mr Thomas, a former firefighter, is a Guinness World Record breaker, World Memory Championship medallist and Sunday Times bestselling author. His speaking tour of the south west, supported by Dorset-based Strategic Solutions’ Community Foundation, will see him visiting a number of schools, including Newton Abbot College, where he kicked off his tour on Monday 23 September.
“This tour is a two-pronged attack” said David “to work with Strategic Solutions Community Foundation and to follow my absolute duty to share what I know with others. Teaching these techniques to students in Years 10 and 11 will help them improve and get better results. The students at Newton Abbot College were the perfect blend; both respectful and involved in the process. I’ll be very lucky if all the schools are like this.”
Year 11 Prefect, Scarlett Pead, said: “It was a great session and I feel really inspired. I feel as if I have got to grips with some practical tips and techniques that will help me do better in my GCSE exams this Summer.”
Abigail Stidworthy, IFA for the Devon region at Strategic Solutions explains, ‘Having seen David Thomas speak before I am very excited to be part of this event. He will show students life changing skills which will help maximise their opportunities once they leave school and throughout their exams.’
