Newton Abbot College started this academic year with a new Principal at the helm. Paul Cornish was appointed back in March and has joined the College at a busy and exciting time.
This year’s excellent exams results show that the College is going from strength to strength as the constant drive for improvement continues.
A Level results saw a 98% overall pass rate with half of those being achieved at a very high standard of A* - B. GCSE results have placed Newton Abbot College securely in the top 10% of schools nationally for the last 2 years, with 67% of GCSE students achieving 5 A*- C in English and Maths (a further increase on last year’s 63%).
The College’s statement of intent is to be outstanding in all they do with a focus on the traditional basics (behaviour, uniform and attendance) and this will not change. Paul already has a very clear vision of what he expects from the College: high expectations balanced with a caring and supporting ethos. The aim will always be to ensure excellence in both progress and academic attainment outcomes for all students as well as preparing them for their future!

Mr Cornish said “I am extremely proud to inherit such an excellent College. The students and staff have given me an incredibly warm welcome. March feels a very long time ago and although I have visited many times through the summer term I am thrilled to finally be in post”. He added, “The College is extremely proud of what it has achieved in recent years but the staff and I are determined to continue the culture of constant improvement”.
