Ruby gets the chop for charity

Year 8 Newton Abbot College student, Ruby Vile, recently donated fourteen inches of her hair to The Little Princess Trust, a charity organisation set up to provide real hair wigs free of charge to children and young adults who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment and other serious illnesses.

As well as the donation of hair, Ruby raised over £450 that was donated to Barnado's; the UK’s leading children's charity.

"I read about The Little Princess Trust and I thought it would be a really nice thing to do" explained Ruby, "It wasn’t scary at all to cut off so much hair, especially when you know it is going to help someone who really needs it."

Ruby's College Tutor, Sarah Wilkinson, said of the donations: "The thoughtfulness and kindness of our students never fails to amaze me. Ruby's donation of both hair and important funds for Barnado's was truly inspiring. I could not be more proud of Ruby and her amazing efforts!"
