School of Dreams

Newton Abbot College were proud to be one of the hosts for this year’s prestigious School of Dreams event in partnership with Honda UK. Over a period of 2 days, Year 5 and 6 pupils from St Joseph’s and Bearnes Primary schools joined some of our Year 8 students in a series of thinking skills workshops, aimed to inspire and motivate in order to help them understand the importance of pursuing their dreams! The workshops were run by Honda UK facilitators, John Biggs and Jessica Dixon-Spain, and they were accompanied by Nick Bagnell from Speedwell Honda in Newton Abbot. Everyone who attended these workshops received a School of Dreams Red ‘Learning’ Award (Daruma Award) in the form of a red badge and the schools also received a red plaque. Dr Aude Odunlade, Teacher of Science, said “We have had a really exciting two days.  The students were taken outside of their comfort zones, working with new people and overcoming a range of challenges.  The teachers were provided with a range of resources to help us share the programme with other young people in the school.  We all came away with a mind full of dreams.”
