On Friday 6 March, the College Sixth Form welcomed guest, Jenny Tozer, to speak to students as part of the College’s ‘Speakers for Schools’ series.
Jenny, a Partner at LGT Vestra, specialises in managing investments for families and entrepreneurs. Prior to joining LGT Vestra in 2008, Jenny spent ten years with management consultants Booz Allen & Hamilton specialising in global asset management. She began her career at stockbroker, Hoare Govett. Jenny has an MBA from IMD, Switzerland and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Melbourne.
Jenny’s motivational talk focussed on life beyond education; including travelling and building a career. She spoke to students about the exciting opportunities available to them and how they can build resilience and aspire beyond their comfort zone. One of her other key themes was how the decisions students make in the next few years could lay the foundations they need to maximise their opportunities in the future.
Sixth Form Leadership Team Member and Teacher of Psychology, Natasha Martin, said: “We were thrilled to welcome Jenny to the College. The main message from her talk was ‘if you don’t try, you won’t know.’. She embodied how finding something you enjoy and then working hard, taking a few risks along the way, is the key to success. She reassured students that it is OK if they don’t know what they want to do, they have plenty of time to figure it out as there is so much choice out there for them. They should cast their net wide, try lots of things and be prepared to try again when things don’t work out the first time. She really embodied our College strapline, ‘Imagine What’s Possible’ and gave an exciting glimpse into our students’ potential futures.”
