Sports Round-Up - November 2017
Sports Captains Libby Evans and Seb Gidley have produced a roundup of the sporting achievements of the College's sports teams since term started in September. It has been a really positive start for all year groups - well done everyone!
Well done to the boys for their first rugby tournament! Students put in a fantastic performance, demonstrating some great skills and showing their potential for the season. Stand out performances came from Tom Paddon and top try-scorer of the competition went to Archie Johnson.
The girl’s netball team had their first match since arriving at Newton Abbot College against Torquay Girls' Grammar School. It was a very tough game resulting in a score of 16-6 to the opposition. The Grammar School chose Daizie-Mae Blyth as player of the match and Miss Tonge chose Mia Gale as her star performer. Congratulations!
Year 7 Netball Team
The Year 8 Netball Team have made a strong start to their season with match wins against Coombeshead, Paignton Community & Sports Academy, Stover, Totnes and St Cuthbert Mayne. Their only draw was a 3-3 result competing against Churston Grammar and the only loss came against Torquay Girls' Grammar, where they were beaten 6-10. Well done for a fantastic start!
Well done to our Year 9 Rugby Team who played against six other schools in a recent tournament. Having fought valiantly, they came home with a three-win three-loss result.
Our Year 9 Netball Team have remained undefeated in the Central Venue League Competition so far this season; a really impressive result - keep it up!!
Years 10 & 11
Well done to the Year 10 Rugby team for a convincing win against St Cuthbert Maine, with a score of 43-17. Try of the match goes to number 8 - George Quick.
The Under 16 team enjoyed playing in their final rugby tournament for Newton Abbot College. The boys won 3 of their games and were only just beaten in the others. The standout performer was Luke Selley - congratulations, everyone!!
