Huge congratulations to Year 11 prefect, Abigail Lister, who was awarded Student of the Month for November 2019. “Abi is such a deserving winner of this award and it is testament to the five years of hard work that she has put into her studies at Newton Abbot College. As an ex-tutee, Abi could always be relied on to be a positive role model to younger students and was a hugely valuable member of our tutor group. As a student of Spanish, she excels. I have been so happy to see her go from strength to strength and this is purely down to her sheer determination and conscientiousness. I have no doubt that she will pick up an excellent set of GCSE results in the summer. Abi has also been a star fundraiser as part of our upcoming Costa Rica expedition, raising over £4000 well before the deadline. Possibly most importantly, Abi is just a great young lady; helpful, friendly, kind and always cheerful. She will go far.”

H Brown, Team Leader of Modern Foreign Languages

“Abi works consistently hard in Religious Studies. She is highly organised and always gives her very best. She acts on advice and assesses her own work accurately. Abi is a good, independent student who deserves every success.”

Team Leader of Religious Studies

“Abi is an extremely conscientious and pleasant student. Regardless of whether she actually enjoys English, Abi arrives ready to give every lesson her all. She often seeks guidance on how to improve an answer and utilises the information given well. Abi is a delight to teach – she is always polite and friendly, listens carefully and genuinely seeks to improve each lesson!”

D Titchard, Teacher of English

“Abi is enthusiastic and self-motivated in her food lessons. She learns from her mistakes, and her mistakes have provided us all with some entertainment. She is a dedicated student, resilient and capable. She always asks lots of questions and takes time to think through her responses. She is a positive force in the food classroom.”

M Kemp, Team Leader of Design and Technology

“Abi is one of the most conscientious students in my science class. She works extremely hard and always wants to try her best. She asks lots of questions and has a genuine interest in science.”
