Congratulations to Year 7 student, Archie Dobson, who was awarded 'Student of the Month' for March 2017.

“Archie is a very good ambassador for the College.  He visited the Special Care Baby Unit at Torbay Hospital to present a cheque to the staff at the unit recently with other students.  He showed a maturity beyond his years and presented himself really well.  Archie is a valued member of our tutor group and is always enthusiastic about everything we do.”

“Archie is a real problem solver in Design and Technology. If he finds something difficult, he does not give up but keeps trying until he masters the task.”

M Kemp, Team Leader of Design and Technology

“Archie approaches every English lesson with great enthusiasm and bags full of positivity. A true team player, he encourages others to participate and settles for nothing less than putting in 100% effort. I am thrilled to hear that he is Student of the Month for March!”

Z Bhiwandiwalla,  Team Leader of English

“Archie is a very enthusiastic and committed member of the Creative Arts Department. Having been at the College for only eight months, he has immersed himself in Arts opportunities, from being a cast member in the summer production of ‘Footloose’, taking drum lessons with the College’s peripatetic teacher, taking part in Drama competitions and being a great ambassador for the future of the Arts at Newton Abbot College. Archie is also working towards a performance outside of College that will be performed on London’s West End.”

S Wilkinson,  Teacher  of Performing Arts and Dance

I didn’t expect to win Student of the Month; it was a really pleasant surprise and a bit of a shock when I read all of the amazing nominations from all my teachers! I am really proud of the award; it has made me really happy and inspired me to give even more to my College work. The students chosen are seen as role models and my friends want to be like them and get their name on the wall too; they are really happy for me and I think every school and college should have a Student of the Month award.
