The first session, held after college on Tuesday 17 November saw Prefects Leah Curtis, Georgie Harris, Joe Mitchell and Matthew Stocker meet with students to help teach them how to improve their confidence around others, enable them to talk in larger groups and help improve their knowledge of the leadership environment. The six week course is designed to teach fellow students life skills that will prove essential both inside and outside of the College environment. Further sessions will herald interactive workshops; Principal, Mr Cornish, will be interviewed in the media room on Tuesday 24 November to answer questions posed by students on the subject of leadership where it is hoped valuable insights and tips will be garnered. Students successfully completing the course will be presented with a certificate for their efforts and commitment. Year 11 Gold Star Prefect, Joe Mitchell, is excited to deliver the remainder of the sessions. ‘This course is really important and worthwhile; both for the students taking part and those prefects delivering the sessions. The Prefects have had great support from Miss Ring, Mrs McDermott and Mr Cornish throughout the planning process and I am learning as much about leadership delivering those sessions as the students participating.’ Sessions are open to all students in Years 8 and 9. The next session will be held in the College’s New Hall at 3.30pm on Tuesday 24 November.
