University life

On Thursday 13 March a group of Year 8 students from Newton Abbot College spent the day at the University of Exeter.  They attended a series of workshops, run by a team of Student Ambassadors, and were given the opportunity to ask questions to gain insight into life at university, such as the different courses, clubs and societies offered by universities in the UK and what it is like to live away from home. Their visit included a tour of the campus including the lecture halls, sports facilities and the state of the art ICT facilities in one of the University’s Exploration Labs in the new Forum building. This visit was part of the Raising Aspiration Project and will be followed up by a theatre workshop in April, run by the Value Theatre Company, and a visit to a local employer during the Summer term.  The project aims to motivate and encourage students to consider their future pathways and provides support and strategies for overcoming barriers.
