Year 8 student, William Frost, travelled to the international home of target shooting, Bisley in Surrey, to take part in the 43rd National Scout Air Rifle Championships held on the weekend of the 19/20 October.
William, whose older brothers, Samuel and Oliver, are also keen marksmen, has been shooting competitively for a number of years. The Scout competition saw William achieve his best national results to date.
Having taken part in a number of different events throughout the weekend, William successfully secured a bronze medal in the NSRA 10m Crossbow competition and made up one third of the Teignbridge Junior A team who won a team silver medal in the Junior Connaught Trophy.
William will be building on his national success with a number of county and national competitions in the coming months.
“I really love shooting.” Explained William, “It is fun, interesting and a bit different. It’s always nice to see yourself improve and I am looking forward to taking part in more competitions. I really want to return to Bisley and win the Connaught Trophy. I would say to anyone thinking of taking up a new sport to just try it and see if you like it.”
