The government supply schools with additional funding to support children who are eligible for the Pupil Premium, in order to support schools in reducing the gap in performance. The government’s intention is to ensure that children who suffer inequality have parity of experience, in order that they can achieve, irrespective of possible disadvantage.

Year 7 catch-up funding provides an additional £500 for every student who has not achieved level 4 in reading and/or maths at Key Stage 2. The funding aims to help these students ‘catch up’ with their peers during their first year at College. The report summarises how funding was spent and its impact on student progress.
