Newton Abbot College is a popular mixed 11-19 comprehensive academy of approximately 1100 students, in the South of Devon with approximately 200 sixth formers.

The college serves students from a wide geographical area where deprivation is high, FSM 17% and disadvantaged 26%. Students in the Sixth Form select from a wide range of level 3 A Levels and General Applied courses. Approximately 51% of Year 13 students progress to HE, of which 33% gained entry to Russell Group universities.

Newton Abbot College was closed to Sixth Form Students from 5th January 2021- 8th March 2021. Students engaged with work remotely, through a combination of live lessons taught over Teams and work uploaded online. There was no consistency within subject areas of live teaching or online work. Staff set work the equivalent time that students would have had in lessons. The work set or live lessons continued to follow the subject specification.
