This qualification will provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress into employment, either through an Apprenticeship or directly into work. Apprenticeships that learners could progress to following completion of this qualification include Adult Care Worker or Healthcare Support Worker. Job roles learners could progress to include Childcare Assistant, Healthcare Assistant or Adult Care Assistant.
Students will learn by applying their skills, knowledge and understanding in tasks or activities that are relevant to what happens in health, social care and childcare workplaces. Students will also learn how to be proactive in promoting healthy lifestyles and supporting individuals within the sector. The course is a combination of coursework and examinations. On This Course You Will Study
- Principles of Working in Health, Social Care and Childcare (Online multiple-choice exam)
- Health and Safety in Practice (Online exam)
- Working in a Person-Centred Way
- Working in Adult / Childcare Health and Social Care Environments
- Working with Individuals in Adult / Childcare Health and Social Care Environments
Students are required to select a chosen pathway to follow throughout the duration of the course that will influence the units that they will complete. It is important that a pathway is chosen from the start to enable all coursework to refer to the correct pathway. The pathways consist of:
- Adult care
- Child care
The completion of work placement relevant to the students chosen pathway of adult care or child care is a compulsory element of the course which will take place each Friday for the duration of the course.
This course comprises: 40% External assessment (Online exams) and 60% Internal assessment (Coursework)
