The BTEC qualification in Performing Arts aims to provide a broad educational base for further training, further education and employment within the performing arts sector. The qualification will develop students’ abilities through the knowledge and skills gained in different parts of the course.A Distinction* in BTEC Performing Arts carries the same UCAS points as an A* A Level qualification.
Students must have achieved a minimum of Grade 5 or above in both English Language and Mathematics and Grade 5 (equivalent) in at least 3 other GCSE/Level 2 qualifications. A Grade 5 or Level 2 Merit in a performance related subject is also required. Other related GCSE/Level 2 subjects may be considered, and an audition may form part of the application process. Guidance on acceptable related subjects can be provided by the Sixth Form Leadership Team.
On This Course You Will Study
You will explore a wide variety of performance styles and genres, through written research and rehearsal.You will develop your performing skills in all three disciplines of Performing Arts by collaborating with a variety of people in three performance tasks.
You will learn how to target specific audiences and how to put on a professional event.
You will also gain essential skills like communication, time management, dedication and independent learning.
The course comprises:
4 internally assessed performance exams with coursework
1 externally assessed performance and coursework exam
