Sixth Form Subjects
Performing Arts is such an amazing subject to take at Newton Abbot College. There are so many opportunities for you to perform your work throughout the academic year, as well as get involved with the incredible College production each year. The Performing Arts team are incredibly supportive and encouraging of everything we do and allow us to express ourselves in really creative ways; they really help us to achieve our absolute best.

The BTEC qualification in Performing Arts aims to provide a broad educational base for further training, further education and employment within the performing arts sector. The qualification will develop students’ abilities through the knowledge and skills gained in different parts of the course.

A Distinction* in BTEC Performing Arts carries the same UCAS points as an A* A Level qualification.

Minimum Entry Requirements

Students must have achieved a minimum of Grade 4 or above in both English and Mathematics and Grade C (equivalent) in at least 3 other GCSE/Level 2 qualifications.

Subject Specific Requirements

Grade 4 or above in a Performance related subject.

What will I do?

You will explore a wide variety of performance styles and genres, through written research and rehearsal.

You will develop your performing skills in all three disciplines of Performing Arts by collaborating with a variety of people in three performance tasks.

You will learn how to target specific audiences and how to put on a professional event.

You will also gain essential skills like communication, time management, dedication and independent learning.
